Solid wood cut by lumberjacks in the mountains of Oku-Aizu

Oku-Aizu is home to a colony of broadleaf trees that are hundreds of years old. K-Style, a product brand run by lumberjacks working in Oku-Aizu, develops products made from solid wood that they cut down themselves in order to protect the mountains and live long lives with them.

Protecting the mountains and living with them

Mori no Shigotosha is based in Oku-Aizu, an area where the original Japanese landscape remains strong, and has been carrying out activities that truly contribute to the local community through diverse collaboration and creativity.
Oku-Aizu is home to a colony of broadleaf trees that are over 150 years old. With the aim of utilizing and preserving these abundant trees, For example, we have conveyed the charm of mountains to many people by holding tours to observe logging, experiential workshops for making tables from solid wood, and fieldwork in the forests.
In recent years, the spread of imported timber, a slump in the housing market, and an outflow of workers have caused forests to become overgrown, so we believe that by carrying out moderate logging like this and moving the mountains even a little, we can help restore the mountains to their original state.

Stories of Trees

"K-Style", which was derived from "Mori no Shigotosha" and specialized as a product brand, was born with exactly the same vision and purpose. We believe that delivering products made from solid wood that we cut down and made ourselves to many people will lead to protecting the mountains and the culture of living with the mountains. Without woodcutter, the wood would not be used. If the wood was not used, we woodcutter would not have a role. K-Style values the "life of the trees" and creates products with the feeling that each product is delivered by hand from the woodcutter. We enjoy the expression of the trees and are particular about the finish so that the more we use it, the more flavor it will have. For woodcutter, "living with natural wood" is natural. Through work in the mountains and the change of the seasons, wood colors and entertains our lives. We at K-Style would like to deliver the story that woodcutter sees in the mountains of Oku-Aizu.
