It is the wood with the best moisture-proofing and deodorizing properties. It is also excellent in insect-proofing and waterproofing, so it has been popularly used for chests and furniture in general.
The town of Oku-Aizu-Mishima, where the tree grows, is known as the "Village of Paulownia" because of the careful planting that goes into raising the seedlings and growing the highest quality Aizu Paulownia trees in the country.
It is also used in the Japanese government's coat of arms and is loved as a noble tree species.
